Nederlandse Waterschapsbank N.V. (NWB) was established over fifty years ago, with the objective of providing sound financial services to the public sector. Since then, the
Bank has financed water control boards [waterschappen], and municipal and provincial authorities.

 

It also grants long-term loans to public housing, healthcare and educational
institutions.

 

In addition, NWB finances public water supply and environmental organisations.

 

NWB is the house banker to the water control boards, providing services such as
funds transfers, electronic banking and consultancy.

 

The key attributes of NWB’s services are social relevance and sustainability.

 

NWB finances its activities on the international money and capital markets. The Bank relies on its very strong financial position and AAA ratings awarded by Moody’s and Standard & Poor’s.

 

NWB is wholly owned by public sector authorities.
