Kuntarahoitus Municipality Finance


Municipality Finance is the only public sector owned credit institution in Finland specializing purely in the local government sector.


Municipality Finance offers funding to municipalities, municipal federations and organisations owned or controlled by those, and housing corporations that serve the public good, by raising funds on the Finnish and international capital markets.

 

Municipality Finance Plc. is owned 59.2% by Finnish local governments together with the Association of Finnish Local and Regional Authorities (AFLRA). The balance (40.7%) is owned by the Local Government Pension Institute (LGPI). The LGPI, the municipalities, joint municipal boards, central municipal organisations, corporations owned completely or on a majority basis by municipalities and companies owned by such corporations are the only entities that are allowed to be shareholders in Municipality Finance without special consent.
