Dexia banka Slovensko a.s. was founded as a specialised bank for local governments in 1993. The re-branding from PRV KOMUNALNA BANKA a.s. to Dexia banka Slovensko a.s., in force since October 1st 2003, represents an important milestone in the bank's history as well as its retail focus.
Dexia banka Slovensko provides a complete range of financial services and products, from personal banking to investment to corporate or municipal financing. The bank ranks high among middle-sized financial institutions and also among the top ten commercial banks in the Slovak market.
Dexia banka Slovensko serves its clientele through a network of 54 branches which are well spread across the whole country.
Dexia Kommunalkredit is the majority shareholder of Dexia banka Slovensko a.s. since May 2000.
Dexia banka Slovensko a.s. has a strong focus on environmental projects. Dexia banka Slovensko a.s. closely cooperates with bodies of the local and the state administration in the following fields:
- Ministry of Environment – environmental projects
- Ministry of Construction and Regional Development - new housing infrastructure projects
- State Housing Development Fund – administration of funds and assistance in housing
- Recycle Fund – waste management projects and administration of funds
As for the project finance, the bank cooperates with applicants of the European Commission programmes PHARE, SAPARD and ISPA and supports environmental activities, related to the development of countryside.
MUNICIPALIA, a.s.
In 2005 Dexia banka Slovensko a.s. and the ZMOS (the Slovak Association of Towns and Villages) founded MUNICIPALIA, a.s. The synergies released through MUNICIPALIA provides municipalities with over standard services in areas like information technologies, financial, business and legal consulting, specialised conferences, educational and editorial activities.
The Dexia banka Slovensko Foundation
The Dexia Foundation, set up by Dexia banka Slovensko a.s. aims to support local and regional governments, to improve citizen’s quality of life. This is done through donations and promotion of activities dedicated to development and protection of cultural values, environment protection, preservation and revival of nature, financial support to education, health sector and public welfare, promotion of towns and villages and other regional units and fostering an overall territorial development.
